What makes a good carvery?

A carvery is where your roast meat is freshly hand carved to order, and you're able to choose your meat before helping yourself to all the trimmings. It’s a much-loved British tradition, particularly on a Sunday, bringing together generous portions, familiar favourites and the relaxed atmosphere of a proper pub.

At an Inn Collection Group carvery, you can choose from the meats available on the day before filling your plate with roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, Yorkshire puddings, stuffing and gravy. It’s the kind of pub carvery where you can take your time, really indulge, fill your stomach and enjoy Sunday lunch exactly how you like it.

Carvery vs a roast: What’s the difference?

The main difference is how your meal is served. A Sunday roast is plated for you in the kitchen, while a carvery gives you the choice – pick your favourite freshly hand-carved roast meat and then fill your plate with all the trimmings.

Whatever you choose, expect tender roast meats, crispy golden roast potatoes, fluffy Yorkshire puddings, seasonal vegetables, stuffing and rich, generous gravy. At our pub carveries, you can choose exactly what you fancy and pile your plate high with the traditional accompaniments that make a proper Sunday lunch.
