Once the town’s police station, our characterful Georgian building has been given a new lease of life as a cosy inn in Northallerton, set right in heart of the bustling market town. Today, we’re a welcoming pub with rooms, where locals, visitors, families and four-legged friends can fit right inn.

Opened by John Proud, who once worked here as a police inspector before the multi-million pound transformation, our story has come full circle. Where custody cells once stood, you’ll now find our relaxed, family-friendly bar and restaurant serving great food and drinks, while our comfy rooms make us a Northallerton hotel you’ll be happy to check into.

  • Is there parking at The Northallerton Inn?

    We offer complimentary parking at The Northallerton Inn car park to the rear of the inn for guests only.  Space is limited on a first come, first served basis and we do not under any circumstances reserve or guarantee parking spaces.  Complimentary parking in our car park is only valid either when you are staying at our inn and checked in to a room or are a customer in the bar, restaurant or attending a function. Overnight parking is available to guests staying at the hotel in one of our bedrooms only.

    You MUST register your vehicle registration number into the tablet on reception if you are a bar, restaurant or function customer.  If you are an accommodation guest, then please register your car registration number with reception.

    • Diners – 2 hours FREE
    • Overnight Guests – 24 hours FREE for each night of your stay

    Charges apply to ALL other car park users – please remember to pay for your parking at the car park pay and display machine, via phone or prebook with RingGo. No overnight camping allowed.

    There is disabled access available into The Northallerton Inn from the side entrance. There are two ground floor accessible rooms available at The Northallerton Inn. Please note the total height of the bed and the mattress is approximately 70cm. For further accessibility information please call our reservations team.

  • Can I add extras or upgrade my room after booking?

    Yes – you can now easily enhance your stay before you arrive.

    After you’ve made your booking, you’ll receive a confirmation email with a secure link where you can self-manage your stay. This allows you to add a range of room extras and upgrades at any time before arrival!

    Your dogs are more than welcome at The Northallerton Inn! We have designated dog-friendly areas of the pub and restaurant, with water bowls and treats available – including our selection of Sir Woofchester’s dog food range.

    We also offer a limited number of pet-friendly hotel rooms, so your pets can join you for overnight stays. Please let us know whether you will be bringing a pet at the time of booking to ensure availability.   • What is the cancellation policy?

    Our standard cancellation policy is as follows:
    You may cancel your booking without any payment to us at any point before 3pm on the day that is two days before the day your booking starts. After this deadline, the whole booking becomes fully non-refundable. If you try to cancel after this deadline (or if you don’t arrive for your booking), you will still be charged the full price for your booking (including any meals or extras).

    Our Advance Purchase Rate cancellation policy is as follows: All bookings on an advance purchase rate are non-refundable and cannot be cancelled by you. If you try to cancel a booking on an advance purchase rate (or if you don’t arrive for your booking), you will still be charged the full price for your booking (including any meals or extras).

    Our special offers/promotions cancellation policy is as follows: The cancellation rights for bookings offered on a special offer will be stated during the booking process and in your booking confirmation.   • Do you have any on site bike storage?

    There is a warehouse in the Northallerton car park that can store a number of bikes.

    Please note e-bikes and e-scooters are not permitted on any inn premises. Charging of e-bikes and e-scooters is strictly prohibited due to fire safety risks from lithium-ion batteries. None of our inns are able to provide storage facilities for e-bikes or e-scooters.

  • How do I make a large group booking?

  • Do you take table bookings?

    Table bookings can be made online at The Northallerton Inn by clicking hereWalk-ins are always welcome so please pop in, we’d love to see you!

    Table Booking Terms & Conditions:

    • Advance bookings: Tables can be reserved online from until 3 hours before the selected booking time.
    • Walk-ins: Walk-ins are always welcome and subject to availability.
    • Deposits: In some cases, a deposit may be required (if table is over 8 people). This is managed directly by the individual inn, and a member of the team will be in touch if a deposit is needed.
    • Arrival time: Tables will be held for 15 minutes after the booked time. After this, the table may be released.
    • Larger groups: Bookings for 9 or more guests will be submitted as an enquiry. The relevant inn will review your enquiry and accept or reject based on availability.
    • Cancellations: Please let us know if you need to cancel your booking. Advance notice helps us plan and offer the table to other guests.

  • Is The Northallerton Inn family-friendly?

    Northallerton is on the East Coast Main Line, with regular direct services from London, York, Newcastle and Edinburgh. The Northallerton Inn is just a five-minute walk from Northallerton railway station, making it an easy destination whether you’re visiting for business, a short break or a longer stay.

  • What used to be The Northallerton Inn?

    The Northallerton Inn is a Grade II listed Georgian building with a fascinating history. Over the years, it has served as a private mansion, library, local authority office and, for 30 years, Northallerton Police Station. The Inn Collection Group purchased the building in November 2020 and, following an 18-month, multi-million-pound restoration, opened it as The Northallerton Inn in 2022.

    Many of the building’s original features, including the impressive front entrance and main staircase, have been carefully preserved, while the former police custody suite has been transformed into our welcoming restaurant and bar. Today, it’s a place where guests can eat, drink, stay and experience a unique piece of Northallerton’s history.
