An inspirational young fundraiser enjoyed a Winter Breaks stay at Seahouses’ Bamburgh Castle Inn during the February half term, as she embarked on a walking challenge along the Northumberland Coastal Path.
Alba Stogden is an eight-year-old from West Yorkshire and since March 2021, has been on a mission to raise awareness for mental health and charities supporting it.
Undertaking walking challenges across the country whilst rocking a pair of yellow croc wellies, bright odd socks and huge smile, Alba has raised over £20,000 for these causes to date, spurred on by the experiences of her dad.
Her 11th challenge saw her and her mum set of from Amble on February 23 with the aim of reaching the Scottish border.
Needing a place to stay in and around Seahouses on day three of the trek, Alba’s mum contacted The Inn Collection Group seeking support, with the Newcastle-based group stepping in with a complimentary Winter Break stay.
Hosting the intrepid duo at their property right at the heart of the bustling Northumberland town, the team at The Bamburgh Castle Inn ensured that their stay was welcoming and relaxing after another day of mammoth mileage.
With a Winter Break offering a dinner, bed and breakfast stay, The Inn Collection Group ensured that the girls were fully taken care of from the moment the arrived at the Inn.
Enjoying superb views over the harbour from their comfortable room and a delicious dinner, which Alba enjoyed so much she was treated to two desserts, the pair were fully refreshed ahead of their day four instalment.
Reaching their final destination at the end of February, the pair have now walked from Spurn Point to Berwick-upon-Tweed in just three weeks, with more miles to be covered soon.
Commenting on their stay at The Bamburgh Castle Inn, Sophie Stogden said “We really enjoyed our stay. Our room had the most amazing view, and the food was incredible, just what we needed after a day walking in some very strong winds.
“B&Bs, inns, hotels etc are a challenge when it’s just Alba and me. Where do you check in? How do you check in? Getting the key boxes to work etc but during the walk we were so lucky to stay and some amazing places and with friendly people.
“We’re really grateful for the support of everybody during the walk and for helping Alba to continue to support Mind and other charities that she has raise money for to date.”
Winter Breaks are available from November 1 to March 31st across The Inn Collection Group’s properties in Northumberland, Tyne & Wear, County Durham, North Yorkshire, Lancashire, Cumbria and North Wales.
Offering dinner, bed, and breakfast stays from just £49.50 per person (based on two people sharing) they are the perfect way to get out and eat, drink, sleep and explore in stunning locations during the UK winter.
