The Farne Islands
No trip to Northumberland is complete without a visit to the famous Farne Islands.
Declared by Sir David Attenborough as his favourite place in the UK to see nature at its best, the Farne Islands are a must! The islands themselves have been home to St Cuthbert, the famous Anglo-Saxon monk, and of course, to Victorian heroine Grace Darling.
Take a boat trip from Seahouses to see thousands of breeding pairs of sea birds and one of the UK’s largest grey seal colonies. Several boat companies operate from the quay.
