Our chefs are currently hard at work behind the scenes on a brand-new food and drink offering, with menus set to be revealed closer to reopening! When we return, expect proper pub food done well – seasonal dishes inspired by the surrounding Cumbrian landscape, comforting classics for walkers and weekenders, and a focus on fresh, flavour-led cooking. Why has the Wordsworth Hotel closed?

The Wordsworth Hotel has closed as it is undergoing an extensive refurbishment which will enhance guest experiences and refresh our facilities. This project will refresh our existing bedrooms, add even more comfortable accommodations, and create a cosy, relaxed dining experience.
When are you reopening?

While an exact reopening date has not yet been confirmed, reservations are already open for future stays so guests can secure availability early. Guests can now book for January 2027 and be one of the firsts to see our newly refurbished inn!
