Whether you are an ardent Royalist or are simply looking forward to an extra Bank Holiday weekend, The Inn Collection Group (ICG) are serving food fit for a King with a host of Coronation specials joining regular menus packed full of pub favourites.
Four British classics have been given an ICG twist for the menu which will be available across all trading sites from May 5th to May 8th inclusive.
The headline attraction coming from the kitchens at the Inns is the Coronation Chicken sandwich, which comes in a brioche bun and is accompanied by thick-cut chips.
Made up of a fried buttermilk chicken fillet, the traditional spices used in a classic Coronation Chicken recipe are incorporated into the batter coating to enhance the flavour.
A signature Coronation sauce, toasted almonds, lime, chilli and coriander complete the offering.
Also on offer over the weekend is ICG’s take on the traditional crowd-pleaser Bubble and Squeak, which is served with a fried duck egg and brown sauce.
Dating back to the 18th century as a way of using up leftovers, there is nothing second-hand about the ICG version, with chefs as usual making use of the freshest ingredients to tantalise tastebuds.
For those with a sweet tooth, Eton Mess made with fresh British strawberries, strawberry sauce, meringue and vanilla cream provides a fresh treat while people willing to share can enjoy a delicious Strawberry and Cream Tea.
Featuring a pair of freshly baked scones, clotted cream, strawberry preserves and fresh strawberries and a pot of tea for two completed this quintessential indulgence.
With hopes of the weather to remain set fair, a trio of tasty cocktails are also coming to the party, perfect to while away time in the superb beer gardens and terraces available at the inns.
Making use of the drinks available behind the well-stocked bars the King’s G&T features a double of Slingsby gin mixed with Fever Tree Rhubarb and Raspberry flavoured tonic, whilst the Pimm’s Summer Cup sees classic Pimms No.1 combined with seasonal fruit, fresh mint and topped with a refreshing lemonade.
For a decadent treat and completing the line-up, the Bonnie Prince Charlie is sure to prove popular as it makes use of Slingsby marmalade gin, Fever Tree blood orange tonic and Prosecco.
With The Inn Collection Group open all day, every day and with welcoming inns across Northumberland, Tyne & Wear, Co. Durham, North Yorkshire, Lancashire, the Lake District and North Wales, there is no better place to enjoy the second of three bank holiday weekends in May.
