The Kingslodge Inn is celebrating this Easter after being named as the best venue in Durham.
The Inn Collection Group owned pub with rooms in Durham City’s Flass Vale is one of just 94 individual sites across the country named as the best venues in their respective counties.
The National Pub & Bar Awards aims to put the finest on-trade businesses across the UK in the spotlight, showcasing just how diverse and creative the hospitality industry really is. Today’s announcement of this year’s county champions shows the level of quality being delivered to pub and bar visitors every day of the week.
The Kingslodge Inn on Waddington Street, which was selected on overall best practice across a number of operational categories, will be officially crowned at a red carpet celebration at BAFTA 195 Piccadilly in London on Wednesday 22 May.
Hosted by restaurant critic Jay Rayner, 15 Regional Winners will also be announced, as well as the esteemed accolade – the overall National Pub & Bar of the Year.
“Selecting this year’s 94 County Winners has been nothing short of inspiring,” says Tristan O’Hana, editor of Pub & Bar magazine, which hosts the event. “From idyllic countryside pubs to inner city cocktail bars, this is the most eclectic and exciting industry in the world. It’s a privilege to help these businesses get the recognition they deserve.”
The Kingslodge Inn general manager Darren Winder said: “The news we’ve won best venue in Durham is absolutely brilliant – you couldn’t wish for a better Easter present! This award win reflects the hard work and effort of all of our team here at The Kingslodge Inn – from our kitchen team to our front of house, housekeeping and maintenance staff who all do a terrific job to make us a winning place to eat, drink, sleep and explore Durham from.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming people in to celebrate with us and see just why we’ve been selected as the best in the area.”
