Free chippy treats for Kids this summer at Oswins

The fabulous flavour of traditional fish and chips is free to kids on the north Tyneside coast this summer holidays, thanks to Oswins on Tynemouth’s Grand Parade.

Available when ordered alongside the purchase of a regular cod, haddock or scampi & chips, Monday to Friday, kids can tuck into cod bites, sausage, scampi, halloumi fries and chicken nuggets, all served with a portion of delicious fluffy chips.

Opened in November, the chippy is found at The Tynemouth Castle Inn and has been earning rave reviews from customers venturing down for their Fish & Chip treats, with the crispy golden batter and freshly cooked-to-order portions striking a chord.

Facebook reviewer Claire said: “Normally we go to a local fish and chip shop, but we decided to try Oswins, wow it was gorgeous. The batter is so tasty!! portions were good in size and reminded us of beamish fish and chips. we will be back, and it gets 5 stars from us.”

David Bujara wrote on Google: “We got fish & chips for my parents, and sausage & chips for my daughter and they said they were beautiful. Everything was done fresh. Great service and great food.

Named after the ancient King of Northumbria, Oswin’s is aiming to become the fish and chip shop of choice by offering the very best of sustainably sourced fish shop favourites.

Cooked in beef dripping, staples like cod and haddock are available alongside the ever-reliable battered sausage, haggis and Smokey.

There are also some extra special treats including Oswin’s Crispy Mix, a delightful medley of cod, king prawns squid, monkfish scampi and secret recipe Oswin’s Sauce tantalising the tastebuds of discerning diners.

To ensure nobody misses out, a specially adapted batter and dedicated sunflower oil fryer allow those in need of a gluten-free alternative to enjoy with confidence.

With recently published research showing the average price of a chippy tea rising to £9.86, Oswins offers excellent value for money on the adult portion side too, with haddock and chips available from just £7.50

Jen Malkin from Oswins said: “We think we are serving some of the best fish and chips in the area at our fish & chip shop and with so many families set to head to the seaside during the summer holidays, we’re inviting them to find out for themselves!

“With the cost of feeding the family on a trip to the coast something that people are very much aware of, we’ve decided to make the main dishes on our children’s menu free with the purchase of an adult’s portion during the holidays

“There’s plenty of choice and with the wheat-free alternative batter and our frying options of beef dripping or sunflower oil, so hope to see people making us part of their well-deserved family time this summer.”

Oswins is open every day from 12 Noon to
